"Why do think this is a dead end Kim? " I just hate it when I speak in 
English :P 

I just wanted to add that I'm not advocating presets with layered menus 
I'm also all for breaking the rules and progressing performance interfaces.
But... if a red button with a round dot on it says "record" to most of the
musical population why not use it?
