I think that's normal behavior.  The EDP is synching to the 505 clock.  I 
think
the value of "1/8s per beat" will affect the quantization of RECORD to the
clock.  Try adjusting it.  Look for the 'sync' LED on the EDP.  I think it 
will
flash even before you press RECORD.
