Man, that's a weird problem!

I remember somebody mentioning that one of the screws on the EDP case is 
shorter than the 
others.  If you replace that screw with one of the longer ones, then the 
longer screw may 
touch a transformer core with causes induced noise.  I doubt that this is 
your problem but 
it's worth checking.
